'The Black Tusk' - Original

The Black Tusk, revered by the Squamish Nation as "The Landing Place of the Thunderbird" (t’ak't'ak mu’yin tl’a in7in’a’xe7en), stands as a striking monolith within the Garibaldi Volcanic Belt, its silhouette commanding the landscape along the Sea to Sky corridor.

Rising above the distant Tantalus Range, the Tusk exudes an almost mythical presence, its sharp form unmistakable among B.C.'s peaks. Snow and clouds seem to dance in harmony, their flowing lines drawing the eye toward the volcanic summit. Soft, shifting hues blend against the stark black of volcanic rock, while the swirling shadows and shapes etched by snow create a sense of movement and quiet majesty.
